ACB Auditions October 6th, 13th

The Atomic Cherry Bombs are looking for a few new gals to add to our group of stellar performers!

Come to our Open Call and learn one of our classic routines, “All I Do is Dream of You” from Singing in the Rain on October 6th at 6:15 PM in the Atomic Ballroom, (click here for directions). You will see what a typical ACB rehearsal is like and receive all the details you need to decide if you would like to join our group.

The following week on October 13th you can audition in groups with current ACB’s cheering you on!

Wear comfy dance wear and character shoes if you have them.

A Summer Full of Cherries

Written by Nautica Nice

There have been a LOT of changes to the ACB’s over the summer! We are choreographing several new dances for our many upcoming performances, we have welcomed new members, we are getting more organized thanks to our costume mistresses Charlotte Shortcake and Miss Magnolia, and we have a new Web Cherry Nautica Nice (that’s me!).

We kicked off the summer by performing during the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas!

We performed a lot of our favorite routines at various venues throughout Southern California:

Happy 4th!

We also celebrated the Fourth of July as the Andrew Sisters in the Huntington Beach Fourth of July Parade!

Fun times at the Yost!

One of our favorite venues to perform at is the Yost Theater in Santa Ana! We are excited to have even more shows lined up to perform there this fall.

We also were invited to perform at Camp Hollywood, where Moxie Gold was not only a teacher, but also won Miss Camp Hollywood 2014!

Rugcutter Saturdays in Pasadena, a new swing dancing venue, asked the Cherry Bombs to perform for their opening event!.

Stuff Like That There

The ACB’s will also be pictured in the 2015 Calendar for Yost performers! Stay tuned for more information on how to purchase the calendar.

Sneak peak of our photo shoot!

Now that the summer is winding down (despite the heat wave Southern California is experiencing) many Cherries are going back to school, drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and planning for Halloween.

Don’t forget to keep checking back to see what the Cherries have up next.

Open Call and Audition for the Atomic Cherry Bombs!

Open Call

This Monday!

The ATOMIC Cherry Bombs are Southern California’s premiere Vintage Jazz Dance performance group! Our team’s purpose is to educate and preserve the history of vintage vernacular jazz and blues chorus girl dances from the 1910s to the 1960s. We are an inclusive, friendly group of girls who want to learn these dances, challenge ourselves, and have FUN while educating the community through performances and workshops.

Come to our Open Call and learn one of our routines, “All I Do is Dream of You” from Singing in the Rain. You will see what a typical ACB rehearsal is like, at our normal rehearsal time, and receive all the details you need to decide if you would like to join our group.  The following week on January 13th you can audition in groups with current ACB’s cheering you on!

RSVP on the Facebook Page!

Best Vintage Stores in Orange County

Not only do we love vintage dances but we also LOVE vintage fashion! Here are my top Orange County vintage stores.

  • Elsewhere Vintage – On Chapman and Olive in Orange just outside of the traffic circle. Great collection from 1920’s through the 1980’s. Good prices and very organized. The best part about this store is that everything is clean and ready to wear! Elsewhere is the women’s store and two doors down they just opened a men’s store called Joyride Vintage.
  • Swellegant Vintage – On Newport Blvd. just passed PCH. Great collection of 1940’s-1980’s threads but plan on digging cause these racks are packed. I never leave this store empty handed. Most of my vintage shoe collection comes from Swellegant!
  • American Vintage – On Harbor in Downtown Fullerton. American Vintage has a lot to offer but you have to search for it. There is one really long wall with hundreds of dresses (most from the 1970’s) and you have to sift through each one to find a gem. Even though American Vintage doesn’t specialize in 1920’s-1940’s I still always leave with a bag of clothes whether it’s 1970’s t-shirts or vintage scarves. The prices definitely keep me coming back.
  • Stray Cat Vintage – On Harbor in Downtown Fullerton. This store is a complete disaster and I only shop here if I haven’t found what I’m looking for somewhere else. Most of the stuff in Stray Cat is beat up and unwearable but I have found a few great pieces there.
  • Orange Circle Antique Malls – Take some time to explore the Orange Circle in Orange (of course). There are fantastic vintage finds among the antiques.

Here are some more great finds sent in by the ATOMIC Cherry Bomb pin-up Honey Belle:

  • Villains Vintage – On Chapman just 3 blocks down the street (west) from Elsewhere Vintage. They have a GREAT selection of all genres and it is a nicely displayed store with reasonable prices!
  • Flashbacks – In Orange on Tustin Ave. I have found some real treasures there lately, but the store is not well kept, and is so cluttered that you have to dig through it all. Takes a couple hours to sort through, but fabulous deals if you find them!

There are more vintage stores than this is Orange County but these are the few that I frequent. Do you have a favorite that isn’t listed? Send your review to me at and I will add it to the list!
